Meet all the Smurfs

I was wondering what I would write today and as luck would have it, the idea came up and parked right next to me. I was heading for a local hardware store and a small van pulled up next to me. Nothing unusual at 1st was spotted, that is until, I looked at the back door. There in bold plastic was a sign shouting out that the owner was proud to be involved with Smurfs.

You all remember them, they are the little blue guys who made it big. I personally never understood it, but from the US marketing end, it was a bonanza. Research shows that the concept of "Smurfs" started in 1958 as a story titled "Le Journal de Spirou” by a guy called "Peyo". I think he was Belgian by birth.

In 1980, Hanna-Barbera Cartoons, Inc started work on a TV series for the NBC. 256 episodes were produced, and the marketing wagon pulled out of town. Can you believe that they also were nominated multiple times for Emmy awards

Anyway back to the original story. As I walked towards the store with new-found smurfette friend and her husband, I struck up a conversation that I know someone who is just about as crazed as her about the Smurf's. I know it was one of Ellen's girls, but I could not remember which one at that time. As it turned out, she was an ARMY brat (she stated it) and was born, where else but Germany. I chuckled as that follows the same path as Ellen's. Or at least that is how I remember it.

We parted company then and I went into the store to return a $2.00 item. After checking to see if they had a same thing but for $6.00 I left and went back to my truck. On my way I noticed that they had the same sign on the drivers side, along with a personalized Wisconsin license plate. It stated I love Smurfs in limited letters.

I then thought to myself---I wonder who might have the same plate in Indiana.
