The Most Beautiful Christmas

By JAN BOELMAN

I rode across the sky tonight
A guest on Santa’s sleigh.
It was Christmas the wide world over.
Let me share my joy while I say...

With all the sadness and gloom in the world
Many children are lonely, and missed,
With no one to care or love or to share
Many have never been kissed.

So, Santa decided to change things around.
He announced for the whole world to hear,
“Don’t ask me for presents, or candy or things —
Rather, YOU be the Santas this year.”

“I’ll come with my sleigh, as I usually do —
Be ready when you hear all the noise.
Then, come to your rooftops and give me your gifts
To take to the poor girls and boys.”

I didn’t think this idea would work —
Who would want to share gifts so cherished?
I could scarcely believe my eyes when I saw
The world’s greed and lust had just perished.

People laughed ‘til they cried, so excited were they
To share with the world’s down and out.
They came laden with food, gifts, toys and such,
And wherever we went, they would shout...

“The time has come to change the world,
To live as God has revealed.
We must banish all hatred, show love and concern
And work until suffering is healed.

“People need to see what sharing can do
To ease someone’s burden and fear.
Brotherly love is the fairest of gifts, Santa said.
“We’ll do this again next year!”

Now you yourself can experience this joy.
Keep Christmas in your heart all year long
Share with the hungry your food and your love,.
With the homeless a hand.. .and a song.

When winds of war send their chilling threats
And people are stricken with fear,
Let doves of peace descend on the world
To sing their love songs all year.

“This is the most beautiful Christmas I’ve seen,” Santa said,
“In the years I have driven my sleigh.”
I thanked him for the privilege of being his guest
And for sharing the world this day.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND ALL!!!
