Senior Citizens Discounts--- Here we come
Today is my birthday:
Officially I now fall into the early bird special group and will get the deep discounts for belonging to this illustrious group. I doubt that I will get any further discounts at my favorite coffee hangout, as I have been getting Senior Discounts for close to 10 years now.
No presents this time as I didn’t want any. Ruth fixed a nice meal for me, and with 2 of the grandkids there, that was enough. I finally figured out why older people outgrow gifts for birthdays. They are just happy that they woke up that morning. That in itself is a gift.
As for a story based on Senior Citizens Discounts, I will have to bring up the time many–many–many-years ago. If I was to guess age, I was in my early 30’s and my older sister and brother in-law where in town. I would place them at late 30’s at the time based on this info.Their kids where with, so that is why I picked around that age.
Most of us had gotten our stuff at the counter and found a place to sit. Along came Jack finally and for an odd reason, he had a “down” look on his face. After his family divided up their order, we where chatting away, when I asked Jack what was wrong. He looked me in the eye and stated that the kid behind the counter had given him the “Senior Citizens Discount” and he didn’t know if he was happy or sad.
As for how do I feel about it? Awhile back I built a simple system on my PC that would display day how many work days till this date. It would automatically become my laptop screen background so that when I came into work the next day, the PC would boot up and display how many days left.
Does that tell you anything?
