Working all day
Ok, I know that it is an old cliche, but I thought I would be sitting on the back patio (concrete slap) sipping mint juleps by now. Instead we have been watering plants, watching over the 2 gardens, working on watering systems, and yes even working on the tire swing. Ever-since the garage sale was over new jobs have found there way into that job jar.
Watering a garden is an exercise in how many hoses can you link together. I now have enough hose linked together that I can turn the water on for the horses located in the middle of the chicken house, and I can water a garden in the back and then pull it all the way to the house. In fact on day when I was treating the lawn for dandelions I was able to pull a single set of house all around the front half of the yard and never unhook. That is about 2.5 acres of ground I sprayed. Net is a lot of pulling took place, but I did get it done.
We planted a lot of LILACs now to create a hedge. Ruth loves the smell of those things, so we planted about 16 plants. That should shield us from the highway when we sit out back. These should work out in about 10 years or so. They have replaced the evergreen tress that were dying out and we had cut down.
We also have filled the pool and that is getting it shock treatment. It was one dirty mess before starting, but the kids all pitched in and cleaned out the leaves. It should be ready for a dip soon so come on down. The waters cool but clean.
I started in on the pond to see if I can get most of the algae out of it. Mike had built it years ago, and it needs to good cleaning as he has been to busy working. He received a call the other day about the pond. I guess some group around here wants to place it on a tour for the summer much like a garden show. Net is I am not sure where we will all go with this as it needs a lot of work before we have it in a show.
Net is guys we are enjoying the days out here even with all the work. 2 nights ago, we sat out back and watch my little lawn sprinkler water the Lilacs. It looks like a little tractor and it rolls along by itself water away. We also watched the grass grow. Last night we sat out and watched a very small rain move through the area and also watched the grass grow.
