And they say there is nothing to do here
We are in the final week of preparing for the pond show. Mike has worked on it the most and its finally coming together. There is a little clean up to do, and we will be watering the grass around the pond, in hopes that it doesn't get killed off completely. This small project has turned out to be a a big pain, but the I think we will all enjoy Saturday. That is the day that of the show. Mike and I have to host around the pond, and Ruth/Cassidy will be out front taking tickets and/or selling them.
Today I starting in on the bathroom remodeling. Tiles are coming off, a plumber has been hired, and new fixtures have to be ordered. You may ask, why I would start that now with so much other stuff going on. I choose to start this as it was to D^%M hot outside for me. I figured moving the last rocks were young peoples work, so I let them do it. Pictures of this will be forth coming of this new project.
Now as I stated above someone stated that there was nothing to do back here. I want to inform them that I took time out this morning to head north of the local college and watch a parade leave the area. Yes I stated a parade.
This parade left the local college area, as it was the only place that could host that many vehicles. You see there was the vehicles for the parade, and there had to be enough room for the trucks/trailers to bring the vehicles for the parade. Along with that there had to be a staging area, were 400+ drivers received their instructions for today. Because of this large turnout, special instruction were needed so as not to endanger the general public on the highways. They had escorts and they had law enforcement directing traffic as needed. If I understood the radio announcer correctly, they divided the parade vehicles into 6 smaller groups and spaced the departure so that they all didn't travel together and create traffic hazards.
This parade of vehicles was all decked out with flags and such, Some even had rumbles seats mounted on the back, so more then one person could enjoy the drive. They will be doing this for 3 days in total, parading around north Iowa, and when its all over, I am sure the people involved will have a lot to talk about.
So you see there is something to do in Iowa. You can attend/participate in the annual tractor parade around the country side. 3 days of open air and looking at the crops. It doesn't get any better then this.
Maybe next year, I will fire up the “H” and go for a drive.
