The heat is finally going away!

Well the bout with the sun is finally ending as the heat index will not hit 100+ today. In fact when we woke up this morning a front had moved thru and we were getting a nice slow rain out of it. This is really needed as the crops and yards were starting to show the strain. Of course the power company sent us the power bill today also, and that was enough to make you want to open windows.

Of course the heat didn't stop us from going to 2 outdoor events over the last few days.

1st was to a local park where they were holding a large BBQ event. What better thing to do, but go somewhere when the heat index is 110 and there are a lot of people. Even with the heat, the BBQ was great. If you like BBQ, then you must go to one of these were the meat is done by the pro's. Once we found a bench under some oak trees, we sat down and enjoyed some funky JAZZ music by a group from Des Moines. Those guys did a nice job , but you sure felt sorry for them as they played on a stage that faced the afternoon sun.  Each had a large fan blowing on them so they held up, but you could still see the sweaty shirts and they did have to take longer breaks between songs.

The 2nd event we went to was on Sunday and that was to an estate sale. Again what better thing to do but go where a lot of people would be when the heat index was over 100 degrees. I spent most of my time in a lawn chair as piles of things purchased for $1.00 appeared around me.  Someone within my family stated that many of the items were not bid on, but we all know that when she talks her head goes up and down. Net is -- I think she purchased many of the items simply by chatting with someone next to her.

When it was finally time to go, we had so much stuff shoved into the truck box, that we had to strap the lawn chairs to the rear bumper with bungee cords.  The 3  grandkids had to sit to one side of the back seat plus they had to hold stuff that would not go anywhere else. I sat with a full length mirror shoved into the truck after I crawled in. Once the door was shut, I could only see around the mirror with one eye as I could not move my head anywhere.  Ruth crawled in form the other side and once she positioned herself, she held a box of glasses.

Once home we all unloaded the stuff, and piled it in the house. The next day when I woke up, I walked out into the living area, and just stood looking. It reminded me of what the house looked like when we 1st moved back.

Or maybe it looked like the house where the stuff came from.
