Computers have taken control of the world
It's over and it's done with.
Spent part of the day chasing down the last of yesterdays issues. The shipper was able to identify the box, hold it, and are in the process of returning it. I should see the laptop back on Tuesday. This experience has been interesting to say the least and I have to admit I will listen to my senses and if it doesn't smell right I will investigate first and then ship.
What I have learned out from all of this is that computers now have control of everything and you can't stop it. No matter who I talked to over this issue, they all stated that once it enters their system and it has departed for the first location you can not stop it.
It is only when the shipment gets to its final destination does it have a chance of getting stopped. In fact it has to get to the point where it is loaded into the truck for delivery before a human can jump in a pull the box out. Now that is called automation and computer control. Over the last 2 days there were 5 different locations/cities where the shipment landed and at none of those locations could their computer system let someone alter its destination route. You would think that the computer system could kick-the-box- out once it is scanned at these locations but that was not possible.
So for two days I watched as it traveled along and then I saw an entry stating it was out for delivery. I became alarmed then and rushed to contact a local rep. After talking to him, did I understand the full details and that they had indeed set the box aside.
I think I will kick back and have a glass of wine tonight. Things are back to normal so I can focus on the next problems. As for the wine, well I read that scientist have determined that fat mice are healthier if they are forced to drink red wine. A human has to drink 20 bottles of wine daily to have the same effects. This leads me to think this question.
DO MICE WAKE UP with a headache after drinking the wine? And if there is no scientific answer to this can I get a grant to study it?
Quote of the day
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron." — Dwight D. Eisenhower, U.S. President, Republican Party
