General Motors has been passed by because of their thinking.

I'm not sure how many of my readers care about cars, or the auto industry but GM has made another bone-head announcement. This week they demo'd an electric car at the auto show. Their claim is it is the car of the future. One that will go hundreds of miles before a refill and no-one has done this before.

THEIR RIGHT IN A SENSE. No-one has built a car their way. Everyone else took a simple approach and coupled a small engine to an electric motor. This allowed the much smaller gas engine to carry most of the load and when needed the electric motor assisted. Then the other car manufactures did the unthinkable thing and they sold it to the general public.

Sure these cars still need to burn fuel, but so does the GM car. The only difference with the GM car is it will only start the fuel-engine after the battery is completed. I say “DUH, whats the difference”.

Their claim is based on some logic as I have stated for years most multi-car owners can live with one car that is local city driving only. Most cars used in this fashion would put 10 to 20 miles on daily. This means they could run on batteries as that technology is already here. You can purchase them right now as conversions.

So GM needs to wake up and stop attempting to razel and dazel us. Build a car that will go the distance and stop bringing out the car of the future. Just build a car we can use, because the others are and they are in the passing lane.
