Where's the Beef
Hi Guys:
Hope you all enjoyed New Years Day and all that goes with it. As for me, I fell asleep as always and found myself watching TV thru my eyelids until 2am. Of course the little kids had to rub it in. “GrandPa drank all that wine in that bottle by himself!” or so they say.
Anyway the topic today is about the government stating/backing cloned animals are safe for human consumption. Keep in mind that I am totally against cloning of animals. It means all those bulls hanging around waiting for a chance to see their little Hereford walk by and say MOO would end and all they would have left is chewing cud.
Which reminds me of the 4 men who show up at coffee every morning and sit within earshot of me. They may as well be chewing cud as their overheard topics are boring.
I think man will open Pandora's box and enter something genetically wrong into the food process if they are allowed to go forward. They have done this already with farm crops and down the road scientist will error in someway and we will have giant bean plants stalking us. (catch my drift with that last sentence! Bean plants and corn stalks!)
Cloning livestock has even broader implications. If they are allowed to move forward with this, then they will most likely clone out inferior cows or hogs that produce less then “prime beef” or grade A pork. This means that we could no longer purchase a bad cut of beef, or a pork roast that tasted like rubber. We would only have prime-beef or prime-pork.
All of us would grow up, never tasting a bad/tough steak or cutlet. They would all taste the same,-- “Prime”.
It would take all the fun out of go out to eat, as we would be forced to purchase the same cut of meat at the grocery store. This would then evolve into your favorite eating establishment, being forced to lower prices or go out of business. It would also mean fast food restaurants would be forced into serving better products and this would lead into higher junk food prices. It may even lead us down the path where junk food would become a think of the past and we could no longer pick on that industry.
It would mean a complete revamping of the meat labeling system as we would no longer have sub cuts. It would even reach out so far, that government would have to revamp the food-pyramid again . The government just did this and it cost us billions in tax dollars. We just don't have the cash in our back pocket to revamp that pyramid again.
So you see. To save the world from global demise, we need to stop this ludicrous idea. Cloning is not good. I see nothing but trouble ahead plus higher taxes because of it. So call your representative, call your congressman, call your meat butcher. Put an end to this stupid evolution in the name of science.
Besides --- Bulls don't care about making a profit of anything. They just have two goals in life. Chewing cud and making that little hereford happy.
