And then it went boom

HI all again.

We all are finally getting tired of Vegas or at least we are all getting tired. We went to a steak place last night and by the time we headed back. I thought I would have to sit along the side of the street and pan-handle a way back.

Ya see, I have a blister on each foot and walking the VEGAS walk is not a good way to make me happy. Anyway we walked to the WYNN towers which seem like a good idea, but when you head off, you finally figure out that your a least 1 mile away.

Finally we get there and after walking back and forth we figure out how to get in. Ruth and I played some slots for awhile and then decided to leave. SOMEHOW we went out the back of the building and not the front. Now we had to walk back to the main street, only to find out we would arrive at the street corner where we had the steaks. IN other words we had fully back-tracked out walking.

We finally arrived at a bus stop and rode the rest of the way.

On the way, a lady was taking inventory of who was a Nascar fan. After chatting with them for awhile, we found out they were from New Hampton, Ia. We chuckled that we were neighbors and that we should have planned our vacations better.

Now on to the Boom.

Last night was another Las Vegas Demolition night or should I state, the last night for the STARDUST hotel. After 48 years of service, they blew it up or better stated, blew it down. The Star-Dust was just on the other side of Circus-Circus which is our location.

We had plans of walking over to it, but after earlier walks proved to be brutal, we decided to just stay at the camper. I just couldn't take any more walking. Anyway they closed down the main street for a number of blocks and I was told, they even closed the doors to Circus-Circus and surrounding ramps.

At 2:30am both Ruth and I were jolted out of our sleep by fireworks. From our camper/vantage point, we could see about half of it, but man was it a display. They had to run for at least 20 minutes or better, and then there was a 30 second delay.

Then you heard the distinct sounds of explosives and I could even feel the concussion blast of air. 10 seconds later, it was all over. 2 buildings down and dust drifting off to the right of us. Click Here for a youtube video of it

Another lot was now ready for more construction. I guess an new building will be there with a completion date of 2010.

Wish I had to umph to stand and watch it come down, but my feet told me NO.

Pulling out tomorrow, so it may be slow till we get home.

Later
