Busy weekend but fun for all!
Man did we have a fun/busy weekend. We went to the BBQ bash in MC this weekend. We taste tested about 15 or so different chili offerings and came away with this thought.
Man there is some really good chili cooks out there cause it was excellent. But on the flip side, there was some really BAD chili cooks also. Some vendors must have thought that if you purchase every flavoring sold and it had the word danger imprinted on it, then it was safe to put into chili.
We had fun at it anyway, and when the Sunday paper came out, it was found that we were in the cover picture for the event. It was funny how when you are standing in a crowd of people and a picture is taken, you stand out. I was standing all alone sampling what I think was a bad chili version. It was the next day everyone should have avoided me!
Anyway, on Sunday we went to Mikes to assist in installing a new set of windows on the second floor of his house. He purchased an older rural home and some things need to be worked on. One of course is the windows. As always with older homes, he ran into some issue's but it was nothing he couldn't figure out/fix. Once the framing was redone, we slid a double window into it's location and nailed it in. It looks great and it even looks like we all knew what we were doing.
We also had a wedding to attend so that took Saturdays afternoon. Wedding came off without a hitch or should I state, they did get hitched. Spent quality time talking with family members while there.
Of course the special event was the grandchildren from out-of-state came home with us after the wedding. They will stay a week I guess and then head back home. It was late when we left the reception. But know was the first time that they had grandma and grandpa alone since graduation this spring.
Jabber jabber jabber is all I will say. You would have thought they needed to tell us everything they knew before we arrived home. I think it was a full hour before they started to run out of things to say. But by then we were close to home, so it was time to get them to bed and prep for the next day.
Sure as the sun comes up, they both were up and at it before we woke up, and the stories began again.
I think it will be a long-fun week with them.
