Camping season is about over.
Went up to Silver Lake over Labor Day weekend and spent time with Sister Diane and her hubby. Had a great time with Sis and watching Jack do his thing. He co-manages the park for free so he can camp there all summer. He mows the area, picks up sticks and keeps track of who comes and goes. Because it was a long/last weekend for most campers, the place filled up and was busy, so he was out and about most of the weekend.
Of course we had a nice spot because of him. We parked along the lake which made you sleep real good. When you awoke in the morning, the lake was still except for little waves lapping at the shore. Fog would start to lift and the sun would make the lake sparkle.
I have to admit, getting up early and going outside had its benefits. I would walk the dog quickly, then we both would go around to the lake-side and sit in a chair looking out over the water. Only me, the dog , the lake and a few birds. Made you think of a lot of things, but mostly about the movie "Golden Pond". Somewhere in that park there had to be an "Old Poop"
During our stay, family came out and visited. Most of my family showed up for an invited soup supper, and then another night some of Ruth's family showed up for a pork sandwich dinner. A lot of chatting went on both nights so I can only assume they all had fun.
Finally the long weekend was over and we headed for home, only to find out we had no taillights on the camper. I was tired of working on the thing so I attempted to sneak home. Of course a kind brother-in-law flagged me down. I want to think him for the warning, but I already knew about it. (I'm grinning thinking about him now).
I had discovered it when I left, but I didn't have the tools to fix it on the roads. My plan was to take all stops easy and hopefully get home before dark and the law caught me, which we did. The next day, I took all my tools out and started to work on the issue. What I found was the main power wire which hooks into the plug, which then plugs into the truck had come unhooked. Once found, I reconnected it and everything is as good as gold.
We leave again this coming weekend for a short run and then do some more work on it. It seems that this weekend was nothing but work on the trailer as it was acting like a snow-mobile. Use it for an hour and work on it for two.
All I can say is Thanks to Vern for the input about the tail-lights, but I was more concerned at the time of not being caught then anything else.
