Purchased the kids future yesterday.
Net is we picked up a router that normally sells for $120.00 for $10.00. A table saw that I would guess sold new for $180.00 and we payed $40.00. The really good buy was a sericel wall picture of the Disney classic called “Lady and the Tramp”. It still had the original sales tag on it which showed someone had payed $275.00 and I took it home for $17.00. I'm sure that one will cover the rest of the stuff we carted home.
I kidded with someone at the auction that we were bidding on stuff so our kids would have something when we die as we can't count on the stock market right now.
For those of you that were at the summer camp out, you should remember they were building all those wind-mill's around the home land. I have to say I was impressed by how many more were up and how close they are to our old “little town”. As you leave the little town now, all you see are towers heading off into the sunset. In talking to one of the farmers who has at least 2 on his land, he had this to say.
“It's nice to have the money coming in and it's a whole lot better then having a coal or nuke plant next door, but unfortunately we no longer can look out and see the sunset like we use to. Now we look at one of those towers standing tall right behind the barn. I guess over time we will get use to it.”
As for all the rest of you that have your money stuck in that stock market, I hope you don't loose sleep over it. It's not worth it. I have lost my fair share of paper money this week and trust me it doesn't make me happy, but I do believe in this great country. I am willing to see what happens and will hang in there. The way I figure it, if Warren Buffet can sink 5 billion dollars in 2 companies, then he thinks things are going to turn around. Of course it helps when he gets 10% off the top for his ROI.
